Traumatic Brain Injury
Students with a TBI eligibility may be referred for ongoing consultative support. We partner with early childhood programs and school districts to assist children and youth with TBI in the following ways:
- Guidance on the TBI evaluation process, required assessments, and eligibility criteria
- Information on the characteristics of TBI and how they affect learning and school performance
- Recommendations for accommodations and specially designed instruction
Each Regional Inclusive Services program has a designated TBI Liaison. In our region, Brad Hendershott serves in this role and can be reached at bhender1@pps.net.
Reach out with any questions. We can also advise on:
- Immediate Temporary Accommodation Plans (ITAPs) as outlined in House Bill 3007
- Return-to-school planning after a medically treated concussion or other brain injury
- Concussion information and prevention in school settings
- TBI-focused professional development for districts and educator groups
Visit the Oregon Department of Education's Regional Inclusive Services (RIS) page for information on statewide TBI services and links to the other. RIS across the state.
