Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Services provides support to school districts and EI/ECSE providers. Our program is based on the premise that when families receive intensive and appropriate support during their child’s early years, family members are more effectively able to mobilize their child throughout the entire educational process.
We believe that children advance to the best of their individual abilities when their emerging sign language, speaking and listening skills are reinforced in a context of acceptance and respect. The DHH team works with each family to develop a specific program that best meets the needs of both the child and the family.Services for children birth to five may include:
- Home education program with parent coaching
- Ongoing audiological services for eligible students
Speech language assessment and intervention- Direct and consultative services for students in other preschool settings
- Support to develop the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
- Developmentally appropriate preschool classes, ages 3-5, with emphasis on language development, speech and audition skills (sign instruction or listening and spoken language instruction).

Services for children five to 21 may include:
- Direct and consultative services for students mainstreamed in their neighborhood schools (To learn more, contact Stephanie Corvi DHH Academic Programs Associate.
- Special focus classrooms, kindergarten through high school, with an emphasis on language development, speech and audition skills (To learn more, contact Erin Fell, DHH TOSA).
- Audiological services
- Sign language interpretive support
- Support to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
- Transition support
Audiology
Audiology Services provides comprehensive clinical services and educational consultation to children who are Deaf/Hard of hearing or with a suspected hearing loss. Clinical services include the following:
- Diagnostic evaluations using developmentally appropriate test methods (birth-3 years old)
- Hearing aid evaluations and dispensing
- Assistive technology including personal and soundfield FM systems
- Audiology consultation regarding hearing loss and educational needs of the child
- Hearing screenings
- Auditory skill development
